  ABOUT KIDS AND ANIMALS

One of the first questions we are often asked by people whom we approach for financial assistance is “we understand that animals are suffering but what of the needy children?”

We well understand that there is a direct relationship between abuse of animals and abuse of children.

Because of that, my co-workers and I are very active in many organizations that help needy children. There are Amigos de los Ninos, DIF, League of MAC, the Capitans school, Xmas toy drives; the Paylapa Society Scolarship Fund; to name a few; all set up to help with medical care, food, clothing, transportation, housing and education.

Feral Cats that are Domesticated

Our interest in the well being of the children ties in with animal welfare. We have already approached several teachers with positive results. Several lower grades drew pictures of their favorite animals which were displayed in a local gallery and sold to benefit spay/neuter. The kids involved learned lessons of humane care which were reinforced by the use of the sale money for a good cause. Our plans definitely include opening our sanctuary to visiting school children and bringing in local vets for talks on animal care. The hope for positive long term change in the views that the society holds on violence and abuse lies with the children.
